11. - 25. V 2012.

Since the first Croatian origami art exhibition with international origami masters, Poetry in paper in the Krapina City Gallery in 2008, there evolved a group of Croatian origami artists exhibiting their own paper creations and participating at international and Croatian origami events, as a bridge between cultures through the medium of paper art.

ORIGAMI

Njemu dugujemo nove tehnike oblikovanja origami modela i simbologiju dijagramiranja, tj. zapisivanja načina i slijeda savijanja.

Origami (Japanese ori - folding and kami - paper) is an international word for paperfolding.  Today it refers to transforming not only a sheet of paper, but any flat sheet of material into a finished sculpture through folding and sculpting techniques, avoiding the use of cuts or adhesives. Although originating from the ancient China, it was in the very ancient Japan that the paper assumed almost a cult value, evolved into a court passtime and with time became widely popular among the Japanese. Yet that origami was a part of tradition, unchanged for centuries. Known models could have been listed on one sheet of paper. Today it would not be possible, for the very pioneer of new, modern origami, the grandmaster Akira Yoshizawa (1911-2005) created some 50 thousand different origami models, published 18 origami books and inspired new generations of the world origami masters. To him we owe new techniques of sculpting origami models as well as the diagramming symbology, i.e. notation of the folding art and sequence.
